The Consulate General of Morocco in Brussels held a ceremony on Thursday honoring Moroccan U20 internationals Ali Maamar and Anas Tajaouart, who were crowned world champions in Chile.
The ceremony was held in the presence of U20 national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi, young players from Anderlecht, where Maamar and Tajaouart currently play, as well as numerous members of the Moroccan community living in Belgium.
The event served as an opportunity to highlight the remarkable and inspiring journey of the two Moroccan talents, who embody success, perseverance, and pride for Moroccan youth abroad.
Speaking on this occasion, the Consul General of Morocco in Brussels, Hassan Touri, expressed his joy in celebrating the two world champions who “flew Morocco’s flag high” during the U20 World Cup in Chile. He emphasized that their sporting success is “a source of inspiration and pride” for all Moroccans, who shared in the excitement of seeing the national football team reach the global summit.
For his part, coach Mohamed Ouahbi delivered a message of encouragement and motivation to the young attendees, urging them to always believe in their dreams, work hard, and have self-confidence.
“Football is above all a school of passion, hard work, and perseverance. Whether in sports, at school, or in life, you should always give your best, keep the faith, and stay passionate,” he stressed.
The two world champions, Ali Maamar and Anas Tajaouart, in turn expressed their pride and gratitude for the warm welcome they received at the Consulate General of Morocco in Brussels, saying they were honored to have contributed to this historic chapter of Moroccan football.
“Nothing replaces hard work, sacrifices, and perseverance. Every day counts, whether in football or at school,” they stated, adding that their childhood dreams became reality thanks to faith, discipline, and constant effort.
Morocco made history in world football by winning, for the first time, the U20 World Cup held in Chile. Led by a talented and disciplined generation, the Moroccan team stood out for its collective play, strong defense, and fighting spirit.
